DPS Continue Search for Escaped Felon
PHARR – An escaped felon who was previously deported remains on the run.
Department of Public Safety officials attempted to stop 35-year-old Gerardo Uriel Proa-Alaniz, who was last seen around 10:30 Friday night on the 1400 block of South Cage Blvd in Pharr near Moore Road.
DPS said Proa took off from the scene of a traffic stop. Several law enforcement agencies searched for Proa, but he got away.
According to DPS Lt. Johnny Hernandez, the trooper found a firearm in Proa's truck. A warrant was issued for evading and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
