DPS Troopers Increasing Patrols During Fourth of July Holiday

WESLACO – Drivers are expected to see an increase in Department of Public Safety troopers’ patrols next week.

The agency says they’ll be looking for drunk drivers, speeders and other violators ahead of the Fourth of July holiday starting on Tuesday, July 2.

According to DPS, last year, more than 1,000 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents where a driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Increased patrol will run through Wednesday, July 4.
