Driver in Rear-End Collision in Stable Condition

UPDATE (12:00 PM):  The woman involved in the major accident off of US 281 is currently in critical but stable condition, according to authorities. 

Edinburg police are still looking into the cause of the accident.

NEAR EDINBURG – Police responded to the scene of a major accident along U.S. 281, according to Edinburg Assistant Police Chief Oscar Trevino.

Trevino said a Chevy Camaro rear-ended an 18-wheeler Wednesday afternoon. 

He said the 23-year-old female driver was airlifted to the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance with severe injuries. She is currently listed in critical, but stable condition.

Traffic was being diverted to Davis Road, east of N US 281.

The accident is under investigation.
