EDINBURG – An Edinburg man is charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Francisco Javier Chavarria was arrested Thursday night. He is charged with 15 counts of child pornography.

Assistant Edinburg Police Chief Oscar Trevino said Chavarria’s arrest is a result of a 7-month investigation. Multiple agencies were involved in the investigation – the Edinburg police, Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

Trevino said search warrants of Chavarria’s home revealed he was downloading and uploading child pornography.

A judge set Chavarria’s bond at $50,000 for each of the 15 counts against him.
