WESLACO – A tax-free holiday for emergency preparation supplies will take place from April 28 to April 30.

There is no limit to the number of items you can purchase.

You do not need to issue an exemption certificate to claim the exemption.

Delivery, shipping, handling and transportation charges may be taxable.

Below is a list of qualified items:

• Under $300: Portable generators
• Under $300: Emergency ladders and hurricane shutters
• Under $75: Axes, batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, 6-V, 9-V), can openers (nonelectric), carbon monoxide detectors, coolers/ice chests (nonelectric), fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fuel containers, ground anchor systems, tie-down kits, hatchets, ice products (reusable and artificial), light sources, mobile telephone batteries and chargers, radios, smoke detectors and tarps
