CORPUS CHRISTI - Officials said an email from a state environmental official showed the backflow incident from a chemical tank in Corpus Christi was first reported last week.

Corpus Christi city leaders have lifted some bans on water use, but there are still thousands of people unable to use any water.

A class-action lawsuit was filed on behalf of restaurants and other businesses forced to shut down and lose business. The defendants named Valero, its subsidiaries and Ergon which officials said operated the facility where the chemical Indulin AA-86 leaked.

It’s not clear whether the chemical made its way into the city’s water system when the email was sent.
