BROWNSVILLE – The capital murder trial for a man accused of gunning down a Border Patrol agent is on its second day.

Gustavo Tijerina Sandoval is facing the death penalty for allegedly shooting and killing Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega Jr.

On Tuesday, expert witnesses, including Cameron County Pathologist Dr. Norma Farley and Dr. Eldo Freeza, from New Mexico, testified about the fatal gunshot wound Vega sustained in August 2014.

The trial is expected to last several weeks.
