Family Seeks Answers after Flood Forces Them Out Again
MERCEDES – A family wants answers after Monday’s floodwaters is forcing them out of their home for a second time.
Sophia Ramirez says she just repaired her home; she put new appliances, bedding and furniture, but every time there is a storm their home is damaged.
Ramirez and her sister, Sylvia Andaverde, have lived in the area all of their lives.
Andaverde says she has a lot of questions for her city’s government.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to the Mercedes City Manager, Sergio Zavala about the drainage issues.
In a statement he says:
“We will soon meet with TxDOT officials on how to improve Expressway’s drainage. We are set to meet about two weeks ago but have not been able to sync our schedules since then.”
Ramirez explains they will continue to clean trying to restore their home.
