WESLACO – The federal government is taking a strong stance on screening family members from other countries.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services are adding new security measures for following to join refugees.

These refugees are either spouses or a child of someone living in the U.S., hoping to join them.

USCIS explains refugees that fit the category will undergo a full screening and vetting process like other refugees.

Before the process begins, they must submit all necessary forms before being looked at through all databases.

The new change is a result of a 120-day review by Pres. Trump’s executive order.
