WESLACO - Most of the Valley's eight unbeaten teams were idle in week four.  That's because 23 of the area's 50 varsity football teams were off in preparation for district opening games in week five.  Mission Veterans defeated Roma 40-10 to improve to 4-and-0 for the year.  Raymondville also stayed perfect with a 17-12 victory over St. Joseph's.  Juarez-Lincoln and Santa Rosa weren't so fortunate.  The Warriors were swamped by Aransas Pass 34-20.  The game was tied at 14 at the half.  And in the Game of the Week, Juarez-Lincoln went for a potential game winning two-point conversion in the final minute at Edcouch-Elsa.  The Jackets held, and preserved a 14-13 win.  Both Juarez-Lincoln and Santa Rosa are now 3-and-1 on the season.

There shouldn't be much movement in Dave's Dozen when the new polls are released on Monday.  Two straight losses is likely to cost McAllen Memorial in the 6A poll.  That coupled with the Juarez-Lincoln defeat could, and the emphasis is on the word could, open two slots for newcomers as the district seasons begin in all three 6A races.

CHANNEL 5's Dave Brown runs through all the final scores in the Week Four edition of First & Goal Final.
