Former San Juan Police Officer Found Guilty of Falsifying Statements
SAN JUAN – A former San Juan police officer was found guilty of falsifying statement to federal authorities.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Richard Castillo provided false information to Drugs Enforcement Administration agents during a narcotics seizure investigation in December of 2016.

A co-defendant and also former San Juan officer, Salvador Hernandez, was acquitted on charges for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Hernandez also had a conspiracy charge against him that ended in a hung jury.
For the mistrial, the court will hold jury selection in March of 2018 to retry Hernandez on the conspiracy charge.
