WESLACO - Texas Game Wardens are busy during the Memorial Day weekend.

Game Warden, Michael Gonzalez, says they will not just be looking for intoxicated drivers Monday; they’ll also be doing safety checks.

“We’ll see a lot of people having an insufficient amount of light jackets on board or they'll have the improper fitting life jackets on board," says Gonzalez.

Last year, more than 570 citations were given out throughout Texas for missing life jackets.

There were 160 citations for intoxicated or boating under the influence, and 29 people died in boating accidents last year.
