Harlingen Man Charged After Deadly Hit-and-Run
HARLINGEN - A Harlingen man is facing a second-degree felony in connection to a deadly hit and run earlier this week.
Joaquin Cordero, 24, was charged with one count of accident involving death after turning himself in to authorities on Wednesday.
The accident happened Tuesday night on the 900 block of West Tyler Ave.
Authorities said he was behind the wheel when he hit and killed 52-year-old Harlingen resident Jeffery Wall. Cordero did not stop to render aid.
Investigators said Wall was struck while on the street. They are still trying to figure out if he was in a crosswalk or if Cordero ran a red light or was speeding.
Cordero’s toxicology results are pending.
