Harlingen Police Looking for Armed Robbery Suspect
HARLINGEN – The Harlingen Police Department is searching for an armed robbery suspect.
Police were initially called out to a scene in reference to a vehicle crash. Police are now searching for 38-year-old Denise Gina Cantu.
Harlingen police issued an arrest warrant for Cantu for aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Investigators said around 2:40 Monday afternoon, they were responding to an accident on the 3500 block of West Business 83.
Dispatch received multiple calls of a woman with a gun at the scene. A female victim told police Cantu and another unknown woman assaulted her and stole her cell phone.
According to police, during the assault Cantu’s accomplice allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim threatening her life.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS is told a man witnessed the assault and attempted to intervene but was also allegedly threatened with the handgun.
Cantu and her accomplice fled the scene in a white Toyota Tundra.
