WESLACO – As temperatures approach the hundreds, residents are advised to watch out for signs of heat exhaustion.

Weslaco resident Alejandro Corona walks at the Mayor Pablo Pena Park every day; he says the heat is making his daily walk harder.

“We are sweating all over the place. You know like big time,” says Corona.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to a medical professional to learn more about signs of heat exhaustion.

Esmeralda Delgado, a registered nurse, says excessive sweating is one of those signs.

She says a "rapid heart rate, high body temperature, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and altered mental status" are all signs of heat exhaustion.

Delgado recommends anyone who experiences any of those symptoms to go indoors or the shade.
