WESLACO – Hidalgo County leaders are taking new approach to block human trafficking in the Rio Grande Valley.

A new special unit will focus on forced labor in agriculture.

KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro spoke to district attorney Ricardo Rodriguez.

He says the Valley is prone to more cases of human trafficking because of the close proximity of the border.

The unit is set to stay in the RGV for two years, after that it will be reviewed for a possible extension.
