The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office suspended a deputy last week amid an internal investigation.

Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. "Eddie" Guerra said that Deputy Rodolfo Salinas was suspended on Jan. 30.

"All I can say is he's been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation," Guerra said.

Guerra said he couldn't discuss the decision to suspend Salinas, which is a personnel matter, or the internal investigation, which is ongoing.

Guerra, however, said the decision to suspend Salinas wasn't connected to an eight-liner establishment the Sheriff's Office raided on Jan. 30.

Guerra declined to comment on whether or not Salinas or the internal investigation were linked to any other eight-liner establishment.
