Housing Program Helping Families Build Their Own Home
PENITAS – Every piece of wood cut and stroke of paint means a better life for Elizabeth Mendez.
Mendez will soon have a new home for her children – a house in Penitas.
She’s a participant of the Build a Home program with the Buckner Family Home Center.
“So every year we have anywhere between 10 to 15 families in a waiting list and our goal is to build 10 and 13 houses a year,” explained Diego Silva, the center’s director.
The program helps raise funds for the home and allows volunteers to build it.
