HARLINGEN - Wearing the right protective gear can offer protection from COVID-19,  but there are things to keep in mind.

Not all masks are effective when it comes to protecting from the coronavirus. 

Rene Perez, the director of Patient Transport Services for the South Texas Emergency Care Foundation says it starts with finding the perfect fit.

"It's important that when you select the mask that you're looking for something that fits you. That's probably the most important part. And the other thing is these masks are disposable, they are not designed to last for a very long time. If the mask gets dirty, wet, anything like that - then it is no longer doing the job that it's supposed to do," says Perez.
