HARLINGEN –Monday marked the first anniversary of the disappearance of a San Benito teen who was found dead in Cameron County earlier this year.

Nahomi Rodriguez disappeared after leaving work at the Harlingen McDonald’s on 77 Sunshine Strip around midnight last year. Her remains were found in a canal near Rio Hondo in April.

Harlingen police said surveillance video shows she got into an SUV driven by a man. It’s still unknown who Rodriguez left with or how she died.

Family spokeswoman Enedina Sanchez told CHANNEL 5 NEWS her father visited the site Monday.

“What if you already have your clue? And the detectives took it lightly? Go back, be persistent and say it again. Do the right thing if you saw something, if you heard something, even if it’s small and insignificant… It may be of value to this case,” she said.

Police said the suspect vehicle is a silver or light colored SUV, similar to a Ford Escape.

A $25,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest.

Rodriguez’s remains are still being analyzed at the University of North Texas.
