EDINBURG----John Feit is expected in court Monday for final pretrial hearing. His trial is expected to begin on Thursday. Feit is accused of killing a McAllen teacher, Irene Garza back in 1960. The former beauty queen was last seen going to confession at Sacred Heart Church in April of that year. Her body was found in a canal in McAllen nearly a week after she was first reported missing. According to police, Feit had always been a person of interest in the case. They didn't have enough evidence to arrest him until last year. He was later arrested in Arizona. Feit is now being held at the Hidalgo County Jail with a bond of one million dollars. Feit's lawyers tried to get a change of venue for the case, but was denied back in June. His lawyers argued the publicity of the case would make it difficult for Feit to receive a fair trial.
Prosecutors disputed the media coverage wasn't enough to warrant a change of venue.
