BROWNSVILLE – Brownsville police said their department is seeking the state’s guidance in an officer-involved shooting investigation.

The Brownsville Police Department and the Texas Rangers have reached out to the Texas Attorney General's Office for its opinion on whether to release body camera footage of the shooting.

The department hasn’t released the footage because the incident is under investigation. Police said they’ll do what the AG recommends.

The shooting happened Oct. 5 at a home on 1st and West streets. Authorities said officers opened fire after the suspect refused to drop a knife.
