MCALLEN – Local law enforcement is speaking out about the way security measures were executed during President Trump’s visit to the Rio Grande Valley.

The McAllen police chief tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS the mission was met but his department still learned valuable lessons about securing high-profile guests.

"Every event, every incident like this there are always lessons. We pick up on those after an event. We do post event briefings, we debrief and things like that. So the short answer to that is, yes. There are some things that we learned," explains McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.
