A nonprofit organization in La Feria is helping people who need immediate help in more ways than one.

"If they need it for something, we'll pay for that— groceries, light, water," Project Pay It Forward La Feria Founder and Director Alejandro Paz said. "Will write the check to the company that needs it."

Paz says the need for their services has gone up so much they've had to relocate, adding that the demand is so great it's hard for the organization to keep up.

"Sometimes we do have to prioritize," Project Pay It Forward Volunteer Georgia Phillips said. "We help everybody. We help from Willacy to Hidalgo, and sometimes it gets a little thing. There's not as many donations as there is need."

Officials say their biggest need is monetary donations to help families financially, but they're also short on volunteers.

Still, their mission of helping as many people as possible never changes.
