ESCOBARES – Some residents near the Rio Grande are concerned about the effects the declared national emergency and border wall will bring.

Nayda Alvarez says she is in a constant battle with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

She says she denied CBP’s request to survey her property and was told they will take her to court.

“At this point I am about to lose my home,” says Alvarez.

She says the recently declared national emergency has left her more upset.

“There is no emergency,” she says.

On the other hand, Escobares resident Ruperto Escobar says he hopes the border wall will decrease illegal activity in the area.

Escobar says he believes in President Trump and his vision of a border wall.
