MCALLEN – Shelters across the Rio Grande Valley are seeing fewer migrants.

The Salvation Army in McAllen told CHANNEL 5 NEWS they stopped housing migrants last Saturday.

Sister Norma Pimentell says they’re staying steady at the respite center but she’s expecting the numbers to decrease soon.

The director at Loaves and Fishes in Harlingen says they had been receiving about 65 people per day and on Wednesday saw zero.

Shelters across the Valley still continue to seek additional funding to help their fluctuating populations.
