Man in Custody after Foiled Smuggling Attempt at Brownsville Bridge

BROWNSVILLE – U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted over $133,000 worth of narcotics over the weekend.

According to a press release sent out this week, on Sunday, April 30, a gray 2005 Mazda Tribute was referred to a secondary station at the Veterans International Bridge.

CBP says upon inspection, officers found four packages of alleged heroin and one package of alleged cocaine hidden within the vehicle.

The vehicle and drugs were seized.

The driver, a 31-year-old Mexican citizen, is in custody of Homeland Security Investigations.
