Man in Custody Following Standoff in Harlingen
HARLINGEN – A man is in custody following an incident in Harlingen Monday morning.
Harlingen police said officers were responding to a call of shots fired on the 2500 block of Stuart Place Road.
Commander John Parrish told CHANNEL 5 NEWS when they arrived at the scene, a man barricaded himself inside the home. A SWAT team was later deployed to the area.
“Once we responded to the scene, a safe perimeter was set and any civilians or citizens that were in the area were removed from the area as a precaution. There were no injuries reported,” he said.
Parrish said the male suspect eventually came out of the home and surrendered to officers.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
Charges against the man are pending.
