Man sentenced for robbery spree where kids were threatened
HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a series of robberies in which he threatened to shoot children.
Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg says John Michael Medina pleaded guilty to two aggravated robberies that took place in May 2018.
Prosecutors say that in one robbery, Medina pointed a shotgun at a 7-year-old little girl and threatened to kill her as he demanded money from her parents. The girl's father handed over all he had - $7.
The robbery was one of at least three that day. Each time, the 20-year-old pulled out a shotgun, racked it in his victims' faces and demanded money.
Prosecutors say Medina, who was sentenced Thursday, had also threatened to shoot a 1-year-old child during one of his robberies.
