SANTA ROSA – Santa Rosa Police Department issued an arrest warrant for the suspect accused of assaulting the police chief.

Authorities continue their search for Jose Armando Deleon. Police said they responded to a disturbance call Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, Deleon drove off and tried to hit the police chief head-on. A chase ensued but officers lost the driver in the Mercedes area, where the suspect resides.

Deleon is facing charges of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and evading arrest in a vehicle.
