Mercedes Mayor Wins 3rd Consecutive Term

MERCEDES – Incumbent mayor Henry Hinojosa won a third term earning him three more years as mayor of Mercedes.

Voters had two candidates, Mayor Henry Hinojosa and Jose Gomez, to choose from in the mayor’s race.

Hinojosa received 930 votes while Gomez got 653.

Hinojosa said he plans on continuing to serve the city of Mercedes to the best of his ability.

“So, obviously the people agree with what I’ve been doing, my administration, my policy, etc. And we are going to continue doing what we have been doing. Bringing businesses in and the infrastructure,” he said.

Hinojosa said this will be his final term as mayor of Mercedes. He said winning by a two-to-one margin in his final election is something he’s proud of.
