PALM VALLEY – The search for a missing 66-year-old out of Palm Valley shifts focus to the city of Lubbock.

Palm Valley Police Sgt. Cody Hunt said Alice Johnson Myers tried exchanging her car in the Lubbock area. He said Monday afternoon, Myers abandoned her white 2015 Chevrolet Cruze in the parking lot of a supermarket in Lubbock.

They said it’s because she had just purchased a dark blue 2016 Jeep Patriot from another dealership.

From there, she reportedly asked the salesman to call Boggus Ford in Harlingen to tell them she didn’t want to the Chevrolet Cruze anymore.

The salesman assisted her in dropping the car off at the supermarket and called Boggus Ford to tell them where they could locate the vehicle.

The salesman saw the news report in Lubbock, and then called the Palm Valley Police Department overnight.

“Now that we have this new information, the car salesman who sold her the new car told us that she was by herself and she didn’t have any other bags with her. So it appears she is by herself and it doesn’t seem like there’s any foul play,” Hunt said.

Myers’ family reports she suffers from bipolar disorder. Her new car has a temporary tag. It is 24L9954.

Anyone with information on the case can call Palm Valley Police at (956) 873-1500.
