MISSION - The United States government aims to lower the number of immigrants crossing; for a Mission realtor these changes bring hope in finally selling his land.

Terry Urdal says it’s been more than five years since he's been trying to sell his property.

He says immigration is a factor in why the offers eventually get shut down.

“Nobody wants to buy it because all these people are cramping over their crops and coming through, they don't have papers. So the government is coming in to arrest them all the time; it's a big hassle,” he says.

Urdal says immigrant crossings and Border Patrol are always a topic of conversation when making his deals.

A few months ago we visited his land where we saw his concerns first hand.

A group of Honduran families had just crossed and Border Patrol had not encountered them yet.

Now Urdal says Border Patrol officials tell him the number of immigrants crossing has decreased on his property.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with broker Michael Blum.

Blum says selling properties along the river and the border wall is a challenge.

“I can't find any recent sales of property or farm lands between the border wall existing or proposed,” he says.

Urdal hopes the focus on recent immigration initiatives work for his favor.
