More than $20K in Marijuana Seized at Brownsville Port of Entry

BROWNSVILLE – U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Brownsville seized more than $20,000 worth of marijuana on Tuesday.

CBP officers at the Gateway International Bridge stopped a 21-year-old Brownsville woman trying to smuggle the narcotics into the U.S.

During the vehicle inspection, officers found 88 packages of marijuana hidden inside the black 2011 Nissan Sentra.  

CBP said the narcotics weighed nearly 114 pounds.

The driver was arrested and is now in Homeland Security custody.
