MISSION – A local Navy sailor was laid to rest without any immediate family.

Veteran Ralph Fowler is considered unaccompanied though he had nearly 1,000 people by his side Tuesday.

Military brothers and sisters gave their final salute; the family who took care of Fowler was in attendance as well.

The Rio Grande Valley Texas State Veterans Cemetery representative explains this is the largest number of people they have seen.
