WESLACO – New subdivisions going up in Hidalgo County will now have to meet a new set of guidelines.

The county commissioner’s court approved changes for subdivisions addressing street lights, bus stops, asphalt pavement thickness, cul-de-sac lengths, fire hydrants and drainage policies.

Part of the new rules state all subdivisions with internal streets will be required to have streetlight infrastructure.

KRGV’s Trason Bragg reached out to the county to ask about existing subdivisions that don’t meet the new requirements.

We’ll let you know when we hear back.
