MCALLEN – The city of McAllen announced they will be trying a new strategy to crack down on illegal dumping.

Officials say crews will be dropping off dumpsters inside neighborhoods so residents can do the dirty work.

Chris Lash with the Keep McAllen Beautiful program tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS they hope bringing dumpsters closer to homes will encourage residents to throw away trash properly.

So far, the city has distributed two dumpsters.

If you want a bin delivered to your neighborhood, call 956-681-4562.
