No Jail Time for Former La Joya ISD Officer Who Stole $16K

LA JOYA – A La Joya Independent School District police officer who stole $16,000 from the campus crime stoppers program will not do any time behind bars.

The former officer, Carlos Javier Garcia of Brownsville, was sentenced to a four year probation last Monday.

Just before his sentencing, the 58-year-old presented the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office with a check for the missing money.
