WESLACO-- People in Weslaco raised around a thousand dollars for a man and his five dogs.

82-year-old Antonio Gurrola is known in Weslaco. He travels for two hours every day to buy food for the dogs. Gurrola took them off the street and gave them a home.

Ruben Valdez met Gurrola the day before Thanksgiving in a store parking lot. People in Weslaco raised the money to buy gifts including a bike for Gurrola.

"New clothing for him, his dogs, and we also set him up with a food pantry so that he won't be in need of food during winter," Valdez said.

The dogs also received vaccinations.
