Port Isabel Lighthouse in Danger of Closing
PORT ISABEL – The lighthouse in Port Isabel is in danger of closing again.
Almost a year after re-opening, this tourist attraction could close again.
“The biggest reason why tourists come here is the lighthouse, if we don't have the lighthouse, that's a disappointment,” says local business-owner Carolyn Hauschildt.
Locals say the lighthouse needs minor repairs such as stucco peeling that could mean a major loss for the surrounding businesses.
Texas Parks and Wildlife will decide how these repairs are taken care of.
