Red Cross opens evacuation shelter in Pharr
The American Red Cross and the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District has opened an emergency evacuation center for residents affected by flooding in Hidalgo County.
According to a news release, the shelter, located at 500 East Nolana Loop in Pharr, will be open through Thursday evening.
Residents are asked to check in with a Red Cross volunteer upon arrival.
Red Cross officials urge residents in the surrounding areas to be prepared for the heavy rains and flooding that continues in the forecast.
The Red Cross recommends keeping a disaster kit ready for emergencies.
