Reluctant witness in double homicide recants ID of suspect
LAS VEGAS - A man who initially described for police a gunman who wounded him in a Las Vegas shooting that left two people dead two years ago now denies knowing his assailant. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Johnny Brooks testified in shackles after being arrested last week in Texas and brought to Nevada as a reluctant witness against capital murder defendant Durwin Allen. A prosecutor showed Brooks his statement to police identifying Allen after the January 2017 double homicide. On Wednesday, Brooks testified he doesn’t remember anything.
