NEAR WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley man said dead cows were dumped along a rural stretch near his home.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS is looking into what happened along Mile 5 and 1/2 West, north of Weslaco.

A nearby resident said he was out exercising and came across the two dead calves along the side of the road.

He said people dump smaller animal carcasses in the area, but this is the first time he’s seen cows.

“Just like a truck stopped right here and just put them down and dragged them over here,” said Enrique Charles. “It’s not right. It’s just not right.”

The bodies of the two calves have ear tags.

We’re reaching out to the Texas Animal Health Commission to see if the original owners of those animals can be identified.
