DONNA – Elizabeth Reyes knows what to do with the ball and she knows exactly where it needs to go when she steps onto the pitch.

“My mentality is just focus on goal,” said the Donna North senior forward. “Just shooting it and for it to hit the net.”

The senior forward has racked up 131 goals in her career.

Donna North head soccer coach Tony Garcia says she’s been the best player to come through the fifth-year program.

“She was really good over at the middle school where she was at,” said Garcia. “She did not disappoint us once she got here and stepped it up.”

The senior’s knack for scoring has helped North get on track for their first playoff appearance in three seasons.

“I thought about that,” said Reyes. “I wanted my team to go far this year because it was my last year. I wanted it to be unique. These goals have been everything for me.”

The Chiefs next play rival Donna Friday in district play. North is currently in 2nd place in district 32-5A behind Brownsville Pace.
