RGV Cities Asking Residents to Recycle Christmas Trees

WESLACO – Several Rio Grande Valley cities are asking people to recycle their trees this year.

Some of the Christmas trees will be used for mulch, which works as a natural insect repellant.

The city of Harlingen is taking the trees to South Padre Island where they’ll be used to fortify the sand dunes.

Below is a list of several locations throughout the Valley where trees can be recycled.

Harlingen (Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

McAllen

McAllen Recycling Center: 4101 North Bentsen Road

McAllen Composting Facility: 15201 North 29th Street

Edinburg (starting on Jan. 7)

Edinburg Landfill: 8601 Jasman Road

Edinburg Recycling & Educational Center: 3102 Business 281

South Padre Island (Sat. 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.)

4501 Padre Boulevard
