EDINBURG – An Edinburg bridge closed for two months for repairs reopened on Wednesday.

Residents and students who use the Schunior Street bridge should not expect more detours.

The bridge closed after a motorist took out the guardrails on Memorial Day. It caused some big problems for residents and university students.

“Traffic is constant when school is in session, especially at the university. It’s non-stop. We’re talking 200 to 300 (vehicles) just in an hour for during the day or during the school time,” said Edinburg Director of Public Works Tom Reyna.

The city of Edinburg said the bridge repairs cost about $85,000.
