Search for Suspects in Celebratory Gunfire Incidents Continues

WESLACO - A bullet that hit a Cameron County child during celebratory gunfire is expected to be removed on Monday.

Chief Deputy Gus Reyna with the Cameron County Sheriff's Office told CHANNEL FIVE NEWS the child was expected to see a doctor to remove the bullet on Jan 13.

The 2-year-old boy was hit in the back while playing outside on his front porch. He was not seriously injured.

The same night, a 22-year-old man was also hit by celebratory gunfire.

He was hit in the foot.

No suspects in either incident has been identified.
