Sentencing Set for Teen Accused of Murder
PALMVIEW – The sentencing for a teen facing a capital murder charge is set to take place in June.
Eduardo Castro Lopez is charged with stabbing 52-year-old Elvira Vital Martinez to death in December of 2015.
Hidalgo County Sheriff’s investigators said Martinez was stabbed and beaten to death during the home invasion.
Lopez confessed to attacking her with a kitchen knife as soon as she got out of her vehicle. He then went inside her home and stole $90.
Martinez’s body was later found by friends.
