Soccer Road Show in Edinburg

EDINBURG - Two teams from the top professional soccer league in Mexico journeyed to Edinburg Tuesday night to give local fans a taste of high caliber soccer.  Here's how CHANNEL 5's Joel Villanueva described the action.

"It was on full display in the valley. HEB park hosting a friendly between the Pumas, one of Mexico's renowned teams, and Puebla.. First, we show you Pumas. Then we show you Puebla.  Here we go.  In the first half, no score, Puebla with the free kick.  Federico Gonzalez gets it in, but hold up, he's called offside. The match was scoreless at the break.  Later in the 2nd half,  Pumas' Nestor Calderon from outside the 18.  No dice, as the Puebla goalie corrals the shot.  Then Puebla going on the attack, it's a clear shot, but Pumas' goalie Bernabe Magana tips it over the bar.  There was no score in regulation,  so on to penalty kicks. Puebla prevails 4-1.  Before the match, we heard from one fan that was pumped up to see Mexican soccer in the Valley.

Carol Sada: " We're basically the whole family is big Pumas family, 100 percent. I have my Pumas' tattoo and then my husband has his tattoo. It's super exciting.  We've been waiting for this forever because we usually go to Monterrey or Mexico City."
