SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – Tourist guides at South Padre Island are keeping an eye out in the skies in an effort to safeguard their passengers.

A total of 17 people were killed when a duck boat sank Thursday night in Branson, Missouri.

Janie Silva, of San Benito, was saddened to hear about the news. However, it didn’t stop her and her family from boarding a boat for a dolphin watch tour.

Cpt. Stephen Murphy says tourists looking to have fun don’t want to hear a 'no'. He says if bad weather is expected, he won’t take the risk.

Murphy says to keep his business operable, he must abide by guidelines set out by the U.S. Coast Guard.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez reached out to the agency to find out what those are.
